Games Global was founded as Microgaming, a venture that started on the Isle of Man way back in 1994, long before the dominance of studios from Sweden or Malta. The company was founded by university graduate Martin Moshal, who worked with merchant banker Roger Raatgever to get the venture off the ground.

That same year, they had developed gambling software that allowed players to enter and play at an online casino for the first time. This ushered in a whole new industry that led us to where we are today. Over the next three decades, Microgaming continued business operation making landmark slots and supportive software.

Ultimately, Games Global is the reinvention of an iGaming titan that beats the output of most providers. Rebranding often comes with some confusion, so they’re in the process of getting their new name out there while stacking their library with fresh experiences. To demonstrate their Microgaming connection, they’ve also doubled down on old classics by releasing titles like Immortal Romance II. If they can create more modern classics, then Games Global has a good chance of making a name for itself just like Microgaming did.

Creativity

A lot of Games Global’s themes are very typical for a larger software provider. We often point out when providers fall into clearly identifiable niches or patterns, with the popular ones being historical, mythical, or animal slots (especially buffalo or wolf slots). Games Global falls into this pattern and, while it’s subject to preference, the same-y themes no doubt harm discoverability in saturated niches. At a glance, their library often looks less imaginative than trailblazers like Nolimit City or Peter & Sons.

However, it’s important to remember that Games Global is, in reality, 40 or so studios wearing the same suit. All of them are trying to put their name on the map, no doubt brimming with ambitious talent, but they’re also looking at the numbers and trending games, and then following them. With such a fast release schedule, some releases like Don Hidalgo, Dark Waters II, and Space Haul Inc. do break this trend occasionally.

That said, the execution of each and every game involves stellar art and seamless animations, the kind you’d expect from a provider with Games Global’s resources. Art styles differ when appropriate, the fluffy sheep of Bar Bar Black Sheep look cartoonish and cutesy, while the more recent Agent Jane Blonde games go for realistic, sci-fi aesthetic.

Games Global’s size and talent network mean they can, and have, launched new game features and kept the ones that work. As we said, they’re the clearly identifiable leader in progressive slot games. First, it bears repeating that Games Global offers some of the biggest wins in online gaming, thanks to their progressive network WowPot! With that context, most of their games may seem quite humble, focusing on the 2,000x to 10,000x range. Titles like Gold Blitz and Thunderstruck sit here. Others, like Immortal Romance II and Rome Fight for Gold Deluxe, push the prize to 15,000x and 20,000x.

You can find larger max wins in games from Pragmatic (Sweet Bonanza) or Nolimit (Fire in the Hole). To improve, we think Games Global should offer up the occasional slot with a big max win, something that can really grab fresh players’ attention. It’d also help bridge that gap between the studio’s standard and progressive prizes.

As for RTP – most of their slots fall in the 96% and 97% range except for notable exceptions like their progressive games. Due to their massive prizes, progressive slots have lower RTPs around the 88% to 92% range.

Games Global is in a very unique position, being a new brand built on a legacy slot library, having to prove themselves again and forge new connections in an industry that has learned from (and surpassed) Microgaming’s past example.
